For Project 3, my team has focused on a completely new feature that was not part of YouTube's app. We focused on how the user would want this feature to be if it was on the app. The feature is to watch/listen to videos from YouTube while your phone is locked.
The user's mental model is an implementation of both swiping and/or a simple button that allows your music to play in the background. The programming implementation model wouldn't look the same as the mental model because it is easier to program what programmers already know. Lerning how to do new things that are required by the designers are a hassle, thus the design I assume would be more simplified.
