For my youtube project, I redesigned the layout for videos posted by the channels you are subscribed to, allowing you to filter the videos based on the most viewed recently.
A user's mental model of using youtube subscription is to browse through videos from channels they find interesting and informative, but if you are subscribed to a lot of channels, this can quickly be clustered with multiple videos. In my redesign, the mental model then shifts to be able to quickly and easily find the most important events or videos that have recently happened.
The mental model might contrast with the implementation model if the a user is not subscribed to very many channels, leaving it only something that can benefit those active users of youtube.
